When Entertainment Macco met Ashwin Seegobin a few months ago, at that time he was creating music in London with dreams of being able to do the same in Trinidad and Tobago. Born in London to a Trinidadian mother and a Mauritian father, Seegobin wears many hats including, musician, producer and animator, however the story of how he started creating music caught our attention as he considers it all an “accident”, one that would forever change his life.
After being encouraged by UK artiste Silvah, the self-taught producer, realizing his knack for creating rhythms converted his bedroom into a small home production studio; then the producing really started. His first real project was with Boone Chatta from Germany’s Soca Twins who heard his material and after recording the first track, he got an opportunity to fly out to Germany shortly after to record two more tracks. Now Ashwin is a part of Precision Productions, a production house that is synonymous with some of the biggest Soca hits in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.
Off course in true Entertainment Macco style we asked Ashwin a few difficult questions, his humility was quite engaging, these are some of the questions we asked him along with his responses.
