Bio:
Shirlan G aka Skinny Banton, born in Trinidad in the West Indies. The artiste now resides in Carriacou Grenada. Skinny Banton started singing from the age of 12 years old. He entered a singing competition at school and won. He continued write and sing, this led to him performing his songs as a support artist throughout the Caribbean. Skinny first came to light supporting Marlon Asher "The Ganja Famer" on stage at the After Ours night club in Carriacou in 2005. Since then Skinny Banton supported artists such as Bunji Garlin, Baby Killa, Hasty Killa, Richie Spice, I-Sasha, Prophet Benjamin and more. As an unsigned talent, Skinny Banton started to put out more tracks arena as a artist in 2005 with hit tracks Mek A Deal, Juvenile, More Gyal, Fire Pon Satan and Nuff Ganja Tree. In 2006 has songs such as One Family (2006), which are popular amongst his fans, djays and sound systems. It was during his appearance in Carriacou, Skinny was approached by UK Homegrown Ltd and invited to do some vocals on UK Homegrown tracks in England to which he accepted. Although it took a while to take up the offer, Skinny finally made it to England late September 2007 and headed straight for UK Homegrown's studio. Following Skinny Banton's musical journey with UK Homegrown Simon Big Tune Benjamin and LWay Productions, Skinny headed back to Carriacou with more experience under his belt. In 2008 Skinny Banton continued his success with tracks such as Gangsta Soca and ‘Horn for you’ which has been a huge success overseas. These tracks gained Skinny Banton more fans in Carriacou and also in the UK. Skinny also appears on the network Riddum alongside Papa Gerry and Tallpree with the hot track ‘Work up your waist’ which has eased him into performing with artists from Grenada. Skinny Banton has started his 2009 season with a track entitled ‘No War’ and has teamed up with UK’s Iron Fist productions on their Caribbean Unity Riddum with a track called ‘Drunk again’ out in Feb 2009. Skinny Banton's favourite artist of all time is Sizzla. Skinny thanks Sizzla’s music for providing the inspiration for him to sing and Bunji Garlin for encouraging him in his music.
