BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER some controversy in 2008 surrounding the Nevis Culturama Road March title, the Odisi Band made sure there was no room for doubt this year as they took the crown with ‘Sweetness’

The band won the judges nod with ‘Sweetness’, which tells how the musicians have elevated over the years and how their fan base has grown; it also speaks of the sweet music fans say they keep producing.

The song was written and sung by band leader Kenny ‘Eazi’ Warner and Docu-B but was arranged by Docu-B and Spane.

SKNVibes spoke briefly with Warner, who said they are happy to have been named the 2009 Road March champs as this was what they set out to do.

“It was a joyous feeling for us seeing that all the hard work had paid off, and we did our best to push the song,” he said.

“The public loves the song, the melody and chorus especially….and at J’Ouvert and Last Lap we heard many of them singing along as we played the song,” Warner added.

The band had recently released an album dubbed ‘A so we party’, which is made up of Sweetness and 13 other tracks.

Warner said they are currently working on getting visas for the band to travel to New York for the Labour Day celebrations next month and also for the 2009 Miami Carnival.

The lead singer also stated that if time permits, they would possibly work on a number of new tracks for the St. Kitts Carnival in December in which they hope to participate.

The Odisi Band was also named the 2009 Band Clash winners.

New Album: Soca Rebels feat. Crazy - Rebel Jam

Soca Rebels and Crazy has released a new album called Rebel Jam.


Even in places as far away and distinct from the Caribbean as Scandinavia, the spark of Soca caught fire and caused a heatwave among music lovers. The Swedish band Soca Rebels from Gothenburg has been around since 1990, playing Soca and Calypso and promoting the culture of Trinidad & Tobago. This did not only arouse interest in their hometown and let their fanbase grow all over Europe, but also attracted the attention of some of the finest Caribbean Soca artists. After cooperating with the Bajan producer Moonblast, the Soca Rebels now teamed up with the Calypso and Soca legend Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung from Trinidad.
Crazy is not only a repeated winner of the Roadmarch title of T&T Carnival, but also one of the most commercially successful artists on international Soca scene. He is performing for more than 30 years, pioneered Parang Soca and played a leading role in promoting Chutney music.

The result of this prolific collaboration is the brand-new album “Rebel Jam”. Comprising nine totally sweet and catchy tunes, this album can be ranked as an instant classic. Fun lyrics as well as beautiful melodies guarantee that these songs stick to your mind for a long time.

VIVA! – Saturday 15 Augusti kl 22-01 in Stockholm wt Biggie Irie and Mr Dale

Fay-Ann and Bunji is canceled and instead Biggie Irie and Mr Dale are coming to Stockholm from Barbados. This is their first visit in Sweden for what i know.

I kind of like this change, I have seen both Fay-Ann and Bunji many times, and to be hounst Im a bit tired of the Trinidad artist getting all the over seas gig. I hope this can open up the eyes for Mr Dale and Biggie so they can see how big soca is in the Swedish capital and further the international links in the soca game. Also it good for the Swedish crews to hear soca from another island and not just Trinidad.

I think Uncle Eric did a really good job of getting this high caliber artist at so short notice!
