On the Gully Side, Tobago Style

I have to say that Fire Fusion from Tobago is one of my favroite soca bands. They drop nuff reaaal good tunes. Like this one, In D' Gully is REAL SELL OFF! BOOM BLAST!

Fire Fusion - In D' Gully
Listen or Download here.

Fire Fusion is from Tobago as said, Trinbagonian born David Reid, along with his Vincentian wife, Lornette Nedd-Reid, started FIRE FUSION in February 2001. They do some nice and sweet videos too, as for Real Man that i posted before. Them Tobago girls aint EASY! Real sweet and sexy dark skinned girls. I just saw that they did a new video for Mama Lay. Its a cross island style tune with a bit old school vibes. I think a lot of people will like this. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it. I love the brass players to!
Tip: Click on it and go to youtube and watch it in high quality.

We Made 2008 Better!

In today's paper our radio stations boss is featured as one as the people that made 2008 a better culture year here in South Sweden. In the text for the picture is says:

28. Anders Wigren, Stationschef Radio AF. Ger allt från synth och ebm till soca och calypso den plats som kvalitetsmusik i vänsterfilen förtjänar i etern.

In English that is:
28. Anders Wigren, Station Manager Radio AF. Gives all from Synth and EBM to Soca and Calypso the place quality music deserves.

Big thanks to Anders Wigren for this year of straight bacchanal on the radio!

2008 has been a real good year for Soca Revolution and Im shure 2009 is going to be even better! BOOM!

d’Vybz from St Kitts

St Kitts has there own style of soca music. Its often faster and have a diffrent style and set of instruments. Here is a press release from the band d'Vybz.

Highly anticipated new single from d’Vybz of St.Kitts-Nevis is here
Basseterre,St.Kitts, (December 2008):-The track entitled “Like Doves” is the first song to be released from the bands upcoming album. The song was written by d’Vybz front lady Jacinth “Shakki” Smithen and produced by the young and talented Kittitian music phenom Gavin “Ras Anybody”Charles a member of d’Vybz as keyboardist since the band’s inception just 3 years ago. D’Vybz selected this song to be the first release as it is special to all their hearts. It is their tribute to carnival and it reflects the spirit of St.Kitts-Nevis carnival with thousands waving they flags like white doves in the sky.

The song is a power soca ballad which showcases the vocal energy and excitement of d’Vybz lead singer Shakki. The band’s entire 2008-09 St.Kitts –Nevis Carnival album release is scheduled for the 2nd week in December. The album will feature 9 exciting tracks
