Möllevångs Karnevalen

This year we going to turn the streets of Malmö into a Soca War Zone.
The 26th of July we going to be an part of Möllevångs Karnevalen. Möllevångs Karnevalen has been around for 10 years and havent until now had a Soca Section. Soca Revolution Crew has the plessure to annonce that Scrappy, origanly from Montserrat, now living in London is going to come over and perform on the Road.

Scrappy Coming to the Carnival in Malmö the 26th of July

Tomorrow there is going to be another Parkfest in Malmö with Möllevångsfestivalen and Möllevångs Karnevalen is going to have a meeting at Jesus Parken at 16:00. Everyone that would like to be part of this can come! So help us try to get Malmö out of its slumber and into the new world.

Club Bacchanal gör sin sommarfinal genom att flytta in på Henriksbergs Takterrass. Sommaren är högtiden för karibisk musik och det kan nog inte celebreras på ett bättre ställe än krogen med Göteborgs bästa sommarutsikt.

Har vi något ess i skjortärmen då? Klart vi har! Live kan vi presentera Ib odd Vegger. Ib odd Vegger inspireras främst av soca, zouk och soukuss. Med sin låt Nordic Jam har han bl.a. varit hypad på den brittiska radiokanalen BBC 1xtra.

Som garanterad partyledare bjuder vi in Sveriges krönta kung inom karibisk musik, Uncle Eric. Eric Malm som han egentligen heter, är född på Trinidad & Tobago och kör en rad klubbar i Stockholm som alltid säljer fulla hus. Eric driver Uncle Eric Entertainment. I över 10 år har de arrangerat konserter och fester med världsartister. I mars var vi från Soca Revolution Crew i Stockholm och spelade skivor tillsammans med Eric. I hela lokalen dansade hela natten minst 1500 personer! Nu är det dags för oss att visa vad vi i Göteborg kan. Är du beredd att visa vad vi går för!

Även Soca Revolution Crew är med och spelar partymusik från de karibiska öarna. Som ett extra tillskott kommer Afro Bandit och spelar afrikansk musik av olika stilar.

Next one is a real big tune, I think this gonna one of my favorites. Terra Mike is back from the Fast Car cover thing and dropping this one. I think its a bit older but anyway: Its a jumpy riddim but its has like two diffrent rythmes, one very fast and the other one more funky.. And the lyrics are sell off!! Thats how Soca Revolution rolling this summer..

Voting for the 6th Annual International Soca Awards Begins Today.

The Soca Awards Organization, Inc. has announced that today, Friday June 6th 2008, will commence the on line voting for the 6th Annual International Soca Awards. Soca lovers can vote for their favorites in 34 categories including Soca performer, vocalist, artist, song, band, website and DJ.

The 2008 iSA will be held at the St. Kitts Marriott Center “DOME” under the kind patronage of the Honorable Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Senator Richard "Ricky" Skerritt on October 18th 2008.

At the red carpet gala including presenting the winners of the 2008 iSA who are chosen by you the people, based on your votes, the SAO will also pay homage to some of our pioneers of Soca who have paved the way for Soca to be where it is today.

Ghislain Poirier: Bring The Fire

Ghislain Poirier is an Canadian artist on the legendary record company Ninja Tune. He's involed in the whole nurave / elctroclash hipster thingy I belive, but his also pumping soca in his sets. Mr Poirier has an new mix tape out Bring the Fire, which you can download here.
